AI FORUM HUNGARY 2024 – PARTICIPANT’S BRIEFING NOTE

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND SOCIETAL SECURITY IN A FRAGILE WORLD – PARTICIPANT’S BRIEFING NOTE

This year, AI Forum Hungary’s annual event on Monday 2nd December 2024 will focus on the theme of AI and Societal Security in a fragile world.

There are undoubtedly many definitions of what might constitute societal security but for the purposes of the forthcoming workshop, we will take this to mean both individual and communal concerns about the impact of AI-enabled technologies on the functioning of everyday life, whether this is linked to conflict, law enforcement, the dilution of privacy or the fears of labour market dislocation and unemployment.  It can be the fear of cultural dystopia or in extreme circumstances, genuine existential risk from the effects of ‘losing control’ over forms of machine intelligence.

The format and conduct of the workshop will follow a traditional ‘roundtable’ approach, involving several specialists in various aspects of the subject, who will exchange views and experiences under the guidance of a chairperson. The discussions will kick-off with a brief ‘tour de horizon’ by the Chair on the current state of play in the field and be followed by what should be a free-flowing discussion, whereby the Chair will attempt to work with the participants to explore the subject in some depth and critically, to agree on what issues would best lend themselves to further study and consideration.  The session will conclude with a summation of the discussions and a restatement of the issues prioritised for further study.Your participation is, as always, greatly appreciated by the AI Forum and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 2nd December 2024 between 14:00-16:00 CET/Budapest time.

Looking forward to welcome you!
